The Club

Combo System

Scoring points is a big deal in The Club. In fact, it's the basis of the entire game, and much of the technique to be learned is how to squeeze the most points out of every single enemy you dispatch. It's a bit of a science, so pay attention...

Gaining points

There are two ways to gain points in The Club. The first is by taking out enemies, and the second is by shooting skullshots (little targets scattered throughout the level). It's not quite that simple though, as the actual amount of points you score will vary depending on multiple factors, including:

  • Distance to enemy - shots from further afield are worth more.
  • Enemy type - taking out a riot shield enemy is more valuable than a pistol guy.
  • Impact area - scoring a headshot is best. Chain multiple headshots together for Headshot Heaven, and huge rewards.

Special moves & modifiers

It's not just a case of "shooting people in the head equals big points". Your character can also perform a number of special moves, such as quick turns (Snap Shot!), escape rolls (Death Roll!), and door smashes (Gate Crasher!). Killing an enemy immediately after doing one of these moves increases your score even more. Aim to use these moves wherever practical.

You can also shoot enemies in a specific way to maximise your points. For example, ricocheting bullets off of walls before a kill earns you a Rico-Slay (and bonus points). Shooting through surfaces gets a Penetrator bonus. Experience with different kill positions and methods to get the most from each level.

The combo bar, & score multipliers

Shoot an enemy, and you'll score some points. More importantly, you'll also fill up your combo meter and gain a x1 multiplier.
Combo Meter

Over time your combo meter will tick down bit by bit. Shoot somebody else before your combo meter is empty, and it'll refill.

You'll also gain another multiplier, meaning you now get x2 points for every kill you make. Make another kill, and you'll get x3... and so on.
Combo Meter

The bad news is that your combo meter now ticks down even faster than before. If you fail to make another kill before the combo meter empties, your multiplier will begin to "bleed out". Keep running!
Combo Meter

You need to make another kill to refill your meter and stop it bleeding out entirely... Keeping your multiplier high is the key to scoring big points in The Club.

End of level Bonus

When you finish a level, you'll receive an end-of-level bonus. The amount of points this bonus consists of depends on your performance during the level (or more precisely, your condition when you finish). Here's how it's calculated:

Final combo bonus x health bonus x accuracy bonus

All of these values are taken from the point you cross the finishing gate. In other words, if you've shot every enemy in the level you need to bust a move and get to the exit as fast as possible. If you dawdle, your multiplier will bleed out and your end of level bonus will be negatively affected.
