Fatal Rewind

Interview with Martyn Chudley, circa 1990

Programmer of Killing Game Show, and now MD of Bizarre Creations

Martyn Chudley"Killing Game Show is my second game, the first being a budget release for the C64 a couple of years ago. Although technically good its gameplay was disappointingly limited, the major reason for which was a distinct lack of encouragement from the people who published the game.

That's all changed now I'm with Psygnosis. They give me constant feedback and help should I need it. Their encouragement and comments have helped make KILLING GAME SHOW the sensational game it is.

The idea for KILLING GAME SHOW derives from the 2 types of game I enjoy most: Platform and Shoot'em-up. I've tried to combine the best elements of both to make an exciting and tough challenge.

I've been working with 68000 machine code since Feb '89 and use Devpac on the Atari ST. I also create all graphics on the ST before porting everything across to the Amiga for testing.

For my next game Pygnosis have teamed me up with designer Pete Lyon. We're not altogether sure what the game is going to be yet but Pete and I have some great ideas. We get on really well together so I'm looking forward to working with him.

Fatal Rewind ScreenshotAlthough there's still plenty of life in 16-bit machines - we haven't pushed the Amiga to its limits yet - I'd really like to work on consoles as I think their hardware, particularly their graphics, is excellent.

I'm fairly normal kind of guy, for a programmer: I generally toil from 9.00 am to around 6.30 pm and try to avoid weekend work as much as possible.

I live in Devon, where I'd like to stay, and when not programming I like to socialise in pubs and drink real ale.

I don't watch much TV but do like to catch programmes such as Black Adder and Spitting Image. My favourite author is currently Stephen King, you may notice his influence in KILLING GAME SHOW.

Before I go, I'd like to thank Ray Norrish for writing the KILLING GAME SHOW music, I hope you enjoy both it and the game!"
