*Technically* speaking I worked for SEGA once. But that was a long time ago.

I remember trying Grid Wars a while back and giving it up because it was hard to distinguish the mouse cursor, the enemies, and the particle debris from each other when the screen got really full. Now I've picked up the latest version and frankly I'm glad it's not completely wiped off the Earth.
Yes, it is half a name change away from being Geometry Wars PC; yes, Geometry Wars came first; and yes, Bizarre has a right to be annoyed when people mix the two games up. That is not enough to convince me that the C&D order was the way to go.
The ideal course of action would be to one-up Grid Wars. I would rather spend the time and effort to brainstorm, plan, and implement something, anything on the competition (say, the online scoreboards someone mentioned) than kill off a successful project that isn't even for profit.
That, or claim Grid Wars as a Bizarre product. It doesn't even have to stay freeware. If there isn't room for the Grid Wars team, at least buy off, request, or even demand the code and assets from them.

Without wanting to dig this silly thread up again, you do realise that Geometry Wars was made by ONE guy, don't you? There's no difference between Cakey and the Grid Wars author, aside from one of them created an original concept, and the other didn't.
It's funny that Bizarre is painted as the giant evil corporation here just because of our successes over the past few months. We're anything but (apart from The Boy, he's evil).
Ben
I'm sorry I had to touch this thread again.
Do you really think this a silly thread?
I come back here trying to find some of my old stuff I wrote, so I don't have to rewrite it and am pleased it's still alive and kicking. *not locked*
I think this is an important thread, and not silly at all. It actually makes a fine example to a situation that can happen in the IP mainframe.
On the surface I'm sure it looks like an easy situation. Someone copies us, we asked him to stop. Case closed.
But it really goes much much deeper. The real answers aren't obvious at all.
The issue is IP not BC.
