New Movies for The Club
Tutorial and intro vids...
So you've heard us talking about The Club for a while now, attempting to get across the key concepts of the game with varying levels of success! As we've been saying for ages, it's much easier to actually demo the game in person or through a video. The combo system is difficult to describe, but once you see it in action you'll understand how everything fits together in a matter of seconds.
So our Video Editor, Eamon (the same fellow who put together not only the awesome PGR4 intro movie, but also all of the other Gotham promo videos you saw earlier this year) has worked his magic once again on the following two clips.
The first movie we have for you today is the Tutorial video, shown in-game to all first-time players. The video explains the scoring and combo systems, and prepares you for your first play session. In fact, don't worry too much if you miss the precise details: the first playable area of The Club is populated with skullshots and wooden targets instead of real-life deadly enemies - allowing you to get the hang of the controls and weaponry before facing off against armed opponents.
That's pretty much where the slow(ish) pace ends though. The rest of the game demands that the player keeps up their forward motion, testing the fastest of reflexes as well as the ability to kill quickly and move to the next point-scoring opportunity. Don't expect to be hiding in cover in The Club... sprinting toward the next enemy is the order of the day. Check out the video below:

The second video is the intro movie to the game. This is the first thing you'll see when you boot up The Club. The intention was to introduce each of the eight playable characters, and show their predicament. For example, Dragov (the first guy shown in the movie) is jogging across the frozen Siberian tundra trying to escape from what turns out to be the agents of The Club... only they're in a helicopter and have sniper rifles. Dragov, despite being a bad ass of epic proportions, knows when he's beaten... and prepares himself to enter the tournament.
The work was outsourced to a CGI production house who rendered everything to a really high quality. Then we brought these clips back to Bizarre and re-edited them into the final cut you see below. Have a look:

Each character also has an outro movie, just like in all the best beat 'em ups. You'll need to complete the game to see these though... we're not going to post them on our web site!
Internally we're putting final touches to the game at Bizarre now, and preparing to enter certification very soon. The game will be on shelves in Early 2008, for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Any questions feel free to ask them in the forums...
