Style Pack Released!

Pack number three hits Xbox Live!

Wednesday, July 12 2006

You ain't seen nothing yet. Bizarre Creations and Microsoft Game Studios are proud to announce that the third PGR3 game download, the "Style Pack", is available immediately for Xbox Live subscribers. New game modes, new cars, and killer new features give you the ultimate racing experience.

The new game modes are:

  • Free Roam Points - Cones will be placed at random points in an open city. Each cone is worth a different amount of points. The goal is to get the most points by touching the cones in a set time period.
  • Team Free Roam Points - Same as above but the points are put into red team and blue team pots.
  • Cat and Mouse - Split into two teams of at least two players. Each team has one Class E car and any other cars. The winner is the team to get their Class E car across the finish line first. If any other car from the team crosses the line first, that team loses.

In a world-first, you are now able to upload your Photo Mode images to the web, and grab them onto your PC. Use your favourite PGR3 screenshots as desktop wallpapers, forum avatars, or whatever you can imagine! Also, look out for a massive Bizarre Creations competition using this feature in the next few days!

The Style Pack car list is possibly the strongest collection of cars we've put together for any DLC. Here they are in their glory:

BMW M6 (2006)

Speed Pack car

For Novice to Expert drivers. A pure driving machine that begs for its 8,250 rpm redline. Powered by a 5.0 liter V-10 engine capable of generating 507 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque, the BMW M6 Coupe can rocket from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. Variable dual-VANOS camshaft control ensures an optimum cylinder charge cycle. On the road this means even more performance, an improved torque curve, optimum responsiveness, lower fuel consumption, and emissions reduced to a minimum.

BMW Z8 (2001)

Speed Pack car

For Average to Expert drivers. In developing the Z8, BMW designers were challenged to imagine what the original 507 would be like if it had never ceased production and had evolved over four decades. This roadster is powered by the famous aluminum S62 5-liter V8 delivering 394 hp and 368 lb-ft. of torque, which is completely civilized in traffic and around town, thanks in part to its infinitely adjustable, electronically controlled valve-timing system.

BMW M3 CSL (2003)

Speed Pack car

For Novice to Expert drivers. The pinnacle of performance perfection, the M3 CSL boasts an awesome output of 81.5 kW per liter or 109bhp per liter. The power-to-weight ratio is 5.36kg/kW, a not insubstantial 10 percent improvement over the standard M3, providing even more shattering acceleration. Peak power is over 350 hp thanks to the completed cylinder charge cycle being modified to further reduce frictional forces.

BMW MINI COOPER S (2005)

Speed Pack car

For Novice to Expert drivers. This remake of the classic 1960s cult favorite "MINI" boasts go-kart-like handling and cat-quick steering. The car is cute, practical, fun to drive, and a favorite with the autocross crowd.

Gumpert Apollo Coupe 4.2 V8 (2005)

Speed Pack car

For Average to Expert drivers. Powered by a twin-turbo version of Audi's powerful 4.2-liter V8, the Gumpert Apollo is the brainchild of Roland Gumpert, the driving force behind the development of Audi's original four-wheel-drive car, the Iltis (the predecessor of today's Audi Quattro technology). Gumpert was also the manager of the Audi Sport team that won a total of 25 World Championship races in the 1970s and '80s. The Apollo generates more than 1500 kg of downforce at 330 km/h - enough that it would stick to the ceiling at that speed!

Chrysler Firepower (2007)

Speed Pack car

For Average to Expert drivers. The Firepower Concept is built on a Viper chassis, but with a 6-liter V8 instead of the 8.3-liter V10. The Firepower Concept is stable at high speeds, but it can go sideways easily if you give it too much power at the wrong time. The car also boasts very powerful brakes.

Ferrari 365 GTB4 "Daytona" (1968)

Speed Pack car

For Average to Expert drivers. The last front-engined GT car built by Ferrari without input from Fiat, the 365 Daytona is generally considered to be one of the greatest Ferrari cars ever built. With lots of grip and lots of poise at high speeds, the Daytona displays just enough understeer to offer a stable line through high-speed sweepers.

Ferrari F430 Challenge (2006)

Speed Pack car

For Expert drivers. This "race-worthy" version of the 430 boasts the same engine as the original, but weighs 500 pounds less. The roll bars, springs, shocks, wheels, and even fifth and sixth gear have all been modified for track use. The car is so well-balanced in corners you should be able to perform powerslides on demand.

Mercedes CLK-DTM AMG (2005)

Speed Pack car

For Novice to Expert drivers. Based on the racing version of the Mercedes-Benz CLK, the CLK DTM AMG delivers state-of-the-art motorsport technology and race-bred driving dynamics to a privileged few (only 100 were built). With its specially modified AMG 5.5-liter supercharged V8, the CLK DTM AMG can be driven with the throttle, balanced between the edges of oversteer and understeer.

Pagani Zonda F (2005)

Speed Pack car

For Novice to Expert drivers. Dedicated to F1 racing great Juan-Manuel Fangio (the "F" in the model name refers to his last name), the hand-built Pagani Zonda F is a super-lightweight version of the original Zonda. With carbon-fiber construction and a horsepower increase of almost 40 bhp, the Zonda F packs a lot of power into a very light frame. The Zonda F displays incredible turn-in prowess.

RUF R.K. Spyder 3.8 (2006)

Speed Pack car

For Average to Expert drivers. The body was designed by Studio Torino and the engine by RUF. The car has a limited production-run of only 49 cars. This car offers very precise steering and instant turn-in and feels very stable at high speeds, and it can be a terror on twisty roads.

Vanwall GPR V12 (2006)

Speed Pack car

For Average to Expert drivers. Inspired by the 1950s Grand Prix winner driven by Stirling Moss, the GPR V12 is a "street legal" single-seater racing car developed by the Ronart company with full Vanwall approval. It borrows its 6-liter V12 engine from the 1991 Jaguar XJRS and its suspension from the Jaguar XJ6, making it truly a British vehicle. Surprisingly fun to drive, the GPR V12 is quick and responsive.

Check out the BMW Mini Cooper S! This car was added on the request of the community, and makes a perfect 'mouse' in Cat and Mouse mode (another gameplay element inspired by Gotham fans!). Enjoy this content guys and gals; it's yours!

The Style Pack is available now for 400 Microsoft Points. As before, you can buy individual cars for 60 MS Points a piece. However, the sexy RUF R.K. Spyder 3.8 is free!
